Botox in questions and answers

BOTOX IN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS!
Botox is injected into certain facial muscles to treat so-called “expression lines”:
• The frown line, located between the eyebrows
• Crow’s feet wrinkles
• Horizontal wrinkles on the top of the forehead
• Bitter lines in the corner of the mouth
• The ropes stretched on the neck
• The tips of the nose that fall etc…
Botulinum Toxin remains one of the most interesting therapeutic innovations of recent years for rejuvenating the upper third of the face.

WHAT IS BOTOX OR BOTULINUM TOXIN?
Since February 2003, botulinum toxin type A, better known as BOTOX.
This medicine has been known and used for more than 25 years in many pathologies (strabismus, blepharoplasty, equine foot in children, dystonias, hyperhidrosis).
By performing Botox injections into the eye muscles in patients with blepharospasm, two doctors, Jean and Alastair Carruthers, observed an effect on the erasure of their patients’ wrinkles and made their first publication in 1989.

HOW DOES BOTOX WORK ON FACIAL WRINKLES?
Our clinic adapts its technique on a case-by-case basis after an in-depth study of each face, the aim being to obtain natural results, allowing mobility of the frontal muscle and eyebrows.
The perfect knowledge of the anatomy of the muscles of the face of our specialists allows you to keep all the pretty expressions of your face.
Expression wrinkles will be reduced by the relaxation of the responsible facial muscles. Botox is particularly effective for the rejuvenation of the forehead (horizontal forehead wrinkles, frown lines or glabellar lines) but advantageously treats other expression wrinkles (crow’s feet, smoker’s wrinkles).
Wrinkles visibly fade, refreshing the face. The subject appears rested, rejuvenated without recourse to surgery. The term medical facelift takes on its full meaning here.

HOW DOES A BOTOX INJECTION SESSION TAKE PLACE?
The treatment of wrinkles by Botox injection takes place in the office during a consultation with the doctor. During the examination, he listens to the motivations and expectations of the patient and studies the areas to be treated. If the Botox injection technique is indicated, treatment can begin.
Our specialists will identify the injection points with precision. They will deposit measured amounts of product to cause the muscles responsible for wrinkles to relax. The experience and precision of the doctor are decisive in order to obtain a natural result.
The injections are virtually painless, thanks to the use of micro-cannulas or ultra-thin needles.

FOLLOW-UPS AFTER TREATMENT OF WRINKLES BY INJECTION OF BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX)
You can immediately resume your activities by following a few precautions:
• You can wrinkle the injected areas, just avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas during the first hours following the treatment.
• Avoid practicing an intensive sport and putting your head upside down for a few hours after the treatment.
• Any small marks or swelling that may appear on the skin will disappear within one hour after the treatment.
It is a good idea to schedule a check-up appointment to adjust if necessary and perfect the results because our specialists strive to give you complete satisfaction with each treatment.
The results of your Botulinum toxin treatment are not permanent. The effects of the treatment (no wrinkles at rest) last between 4 and 6 months depending on the patient and your particular muscle.
To extend the duration of each treatment beyond 4 months, respect your schedule of appointments and the frequency of renewal of the treatment. The first year, it is advisable to perform a botox injection every 4 months, then every 6 months.

WHEN DO RESULTS APPEAR AFTER BOTOX INJECTIONS?
The effectiveness of botulinum toxin injections appears gradually, sometimes from the first 24 hours and settles completely in about ten days. Wrinkles are faded for a period of 4 to 6 months depending on the patient. Thus the treatment must be repeated on average twice a year.
However, you should know that the more these injections are repeated, the more they are spaced out in time because the results hold more and more.
